Lecture: “Initiatives and responses to migrant workers during the lockdown” by Candy Cunha & Francis Xavier | India
Lecture description |
COVID-19 has been heart wrenching and agonizing for almost everyone. For many, it cannot be compared to any other event during their lifetime. One of the most affected groups is migrant workers. Although previously invisible, the pandemic has made them visible.
This narrative describes an initiative of the National Service Scheme team at Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology (ALIET) during the lockdown period. It highlights initiatives taken to address the situation of migrant workers during the pandemic lockdown in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh in India. The relief camp not only taught us joy of giving but also made us feel happy and contented. Our students had a very rich learning experience at ALIET. This narrative discourse is an attempt to share our unique experience with the wider audience.
