Master class Philosophy in Practice, from Academia to Its Hands-on Social Utility: West University of Timisoara Graduates’ Experience by Florin LOBONT & Mihail PRICOP | West University of Timisoara, Romania

Masterclass description | Starting from the MA of Philosophical Counselling’s pioneering inception within the Romanian academic environment, and continuing with the programme’s gradual alignment with the social demands it aimed to meet, a few main experiences of its 5-year history will be shared, especially with respect to the versatility of philosophical counselling skills acquired and applied in companies and organizations by some of its graduates, many of them members of the Professional Association of Philosophical and Ethical Counselors generated . One of them is Mihail Pricop, who will present a sketch of his career history and prospects in this field by referring to his design of programs in which he applies the principles of philosophy in practice in business meetings, conflict management, training, group coaching and public speaking.

Florin LOBONT – Professor of Philosophy and Intellectual History at West University of Timisoara and director and founder of the MA in Philosophical Counselling and Consultancy programme

Florin Lobont is Professor of Philosophy and Intellectual History at West University of Timisoara and director and founder of the MA in Philosophical Counselling and Consultancy programme. He has published books and articles in various fields including philosophical counselling, philosophy for children, philosophy of history, history of ideas, applied ethics. He is a member of several international associations of philosophy in practice. PhD supervisor in Philosophy, has supervised the first PhD thesis in philosophical counselling in Romania. He is also founding member Professional Association of Philosophical and Ethical Counsellors – APCFE (Romania).

Mihail PRICOP – MA in Philosophical Counselling and Consultancy from West University of Timisoara, Romania

Mihail Pricop has degrees in psychology and theology and an MA in Philosophical Counselling and Consultancy from West University of Timisoara. He has a vast ICF coaching experience, 10 years of sales experience, 8 years of management and over 6 years of history as training manager, trainer, coach and consultant. He was the coordinator of projects through which his employer company Autonom obtained, for 5 consecutive years, the “Best Employer” award granted by AON Romania, and is certified by WorldBlu – a body that promotes democracy and freedom within organizations. He was a speaker and facilitator at various conferences and events, including Great People Inside, Business Days, Azimut Zoom IN, Healthiest Companies – Organizational Well-Being. Member of APCFE.
